Knitting Socks

So, after this half sock sat in a plastic bag in my closet for the last, uhm, 10 years, I decided, it's time to give it another try. And really, after having knit two pairs of baby socks, how hard could a pair for myself be?
See for yourself

I think they turned out nice apart from the little holes in the gusset part...

Now I have to make a pair for my husband, because he keeps complaining about cold feet at night. I better hurry though, cause it is getting warmer here every day.

Snow and Ice

We got quite some snow over the past week, so you'd think, I'm knitting all day! I wish, but my 3.5 year old does not always agree with that. So, this is how I kept him busy. He made a bird house with daddy:

He and I did several other crafts. Here is a picture of the apron he decorated with fabric paint:

I got around to finish a few projects however. One being a seamless Baby Kimono, that I found here: http://thecompletefabrication.blogspot.com
It was a quick knit and turned out really nice.

See for yourselves:

I made a pair of socks to go with it:

Gorgeous wrist warmers I made to match a rainbow hat I made last fall:

Gregor was crazy about them and kept putting them on, running off and playing with them, so I decided to make him a pair. Naturally, he won't wear them.... ;)

Last week, I decided to frog (undo) a sock that I started so long ago, that I can't even remember. Since I was unable to find the pattern I used, I just restarted it. Looking forward to wearing a pair of socks  I made myself.

Happy New Year!!

Wishing all of my readers and followers a happy new year 2011! I hope you all had a great time over the past two weeks filled with family, friends, lots of food, and of course gifts...

I haven't gotten any yarn this time around, probably because I am constantly buying yarn. At least every time I go to the store

Here are a couple pics of what I've been working on over the holidays.
Daniel's hat with braid and tassel

Matching mittens

Though I'm not particularly fond of green, I do love that combination

Close up of the braid

Simple black men's ribbed hat

Can be worn with a brim

Manly Slip stitch hat (pattern out of 'Just Hats' by Lion Brand)

The detail
Simple rib hat in green with the brim
and without it.

What are your plans for the new year? I am planning on updating this blog at least once a week. Let's hope I'll stick to it ;). And I am trying to figure out how I could teach and be more active in the mom's group.

Knitting for...

... well, can't say, seeing as it is a gift ;)
However I can show you what I have been working on lately.

I finally knit a matching hat to the Bee mittens

I made this cardigan following the pattern in the book One Skein by Leigh Radford

I made a matching hat of my own design...

...with a rib brim

Dress with picot edging

This shows the picot edging pretty good

The neck

And the back of the sweater

I am knitting a pair of pants to go with the dress (knid of like bloomers) and a matching hat. Just need to put the finishing touches on them and they are good to go.

Knit- a- thon

It's been a while since the last post, but I am hoping to post more regularly now.
I started my own personal Knit- a- thon yesterday because there are a few things I need to get finished before the first weekend in December. Here is a list of what I need to work on:
1 cable hat
4 more hats
2 pair of wrist warmers
1 scarf

I will try to keep you posted on my progress.

Got this one ready in time for winter

This is it!

I finally decided to have my own blog... Just for me and my knitting, sewing or whatever else I might come up with in the creative parts of my life...
I will keep you posted here about what projects I have on my needles right now and what projects I have in planning in the near future. Especially now, with Christmas coming up.
If you have any questions or tips or ideas, fire away!
Enjoy!
