More hats

I love knitting hats, because they are quick and easy! And because you can always change the pattern and color! You get to try out a lot of different combinations of color, meaning you can get creative!

Here are some hats I’ve knit up over the past couple weeks:

I made this one per special request of my sister.

Here is a baby beret and a toddler beret- the baby hat didn’t fit on Greeneggs!

The Carousel Hat

IMG_0238IMG_0239

This is the Carousel Hat I made for one of my sisters.
I really enjoy color work and loved how this one turned out. And it was ever so soft! I found the pattern in ‘Just Hats’ from Lion Brand Yarn.

Welcome Greeneggs!!

It's been a while that I thought about adding on to our family.
So I did! Say hello to Greeneggs! Isn't he wonderful? ;)
He got his first session as a model today and I think he did well!!

Spring is in the air

I haven't blogged in over a month. Wow!

Spring is in the air and I love being outside all the time. My knit basket always is with me, so I can sit on the park bench and knit while my little guy plays on the playground. Sometimes I just sit in front of my house and knit. I certainly get a lot done that way ;)

Right now, I am facing the challenge of finishing a crochet hat, that I started. I absolutely love the pattern, but somehow I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Instead of shaping up like a hat, it looks more like a lampshade or maybe a skirt. So maybe, I should just stick with knitting.

Here is my attempt at a crochet hat:

See how it gets wider the higher it gets?

I made a hat for my friend's mom and here is the result:

Now I can use the next couple days to get ready for the yard sale this Saturday.

Knitting Socks

So, after this half sock sat in a plastic bag in my closet for the last, uhm, 10 years, I decided, it's time to give it another try. And really, after having knit two pairs of baby socks, how hard could a pair for myself be?
See for yourself

I think they turned out nice apart from the little holes in the gusset part...

Now I have to make a pair for my husband, because he keeps complaining about cold feet at night. I better hurry though, cause it is getting warmer here every day.

Snow and Ice

We got quite some snow over the past week, so you'd think, I'm knitting all day! I wish, but my 3.5 year old does not always agree with that. So, this is how I kept him busy. He made a bird house with daddy:

He and I did several other crafts. Here is a picture of the apron he decorated with fabric paint:

I got around to finish a few projects however. One being a seamless Baby Kimono, that I found here: http://thecompletefabrication.blogspot.com
It was a quick knit and turned out really nice.

See for yourselves:

I made a pair of socks to go with it:

Gorgeous wrist warmers I made to match a rainbow hat I made last fall:

Gregor was crazy about them and kept putting them on, running off and playing with them, so I decided to make him a pair. Naturally, he won't wear them.... ;)

Last week, I decided to frog (undo) a sock that I started so long ago, that I can't even remember. Since I was unable to find the pattern I used, I just restarted it. Looking forward to wearing a pair of socks  I made myself.

Happy New Year!!

Wishing all of my readers and followers a happy new year 2011! I hope you all had a great time over the past two weeks filled with family, friends, lots of food, and of course gifts...

I haven't gotten any yarn this time around, probably because I am constantly buying yarn. At least every time I go to the store

Here are a couple pics of what I've been working on over the holidays.

Matching mittens

Though I'm not particularly fond of green, I do love that combination

What are your plans for the new year? I am planning on updating this blog at least once a week. Let's hope I'll stick to it ;). And I am trying to figure out how I could teach and be more active in the mom's group.
